The LALC 5K Race for Literacy was a success, and we couldn't be happier! We owe a big thank you to all of our participants and volunteers for helping make this happen. We couldn't have done it without you!
Now, we want your feedback. We want to know what you liked about the race, what you thought could be improved, your overall experience, and anything else you want to share with us. We also want your thoughts on us hosting another race in the fall. Would you participate? Remember, all feedback is anonymous, so please share your thoughts and opinions with us! We need your help to make the next race even more successful!
Thank you again for your help and support and for raising awareness about health literacy!

May 8th was my first walk. As tired as I was as I approached the finish line I was really proud to have been a part of something giving back to the community. I would be interested in a fall walk. Thinking of a fall walk gives me inspiration to keep walking for my health as well as training for another walk.
ReplyDeleteI think all who took part had fun. Have it a little earlier in the morning.
Thanks,
Carolyn D. Taylor
This was our first race. We had a great time and can't wait to run again next yr. The only thing I would suggest is having medals for the top 10 kids too. My 12 yr. old son ran and came in 40th. I would have love to know out of kids what he placed.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the race on Saturday. The volunteers were exremely helpful & courteous. I would suggest having at least two water stations throughout the course.
ReplyDeleteThe location of the race was great!
The map on the computer was a bit confusing for those who were trying to train for the course. There were not any marked arrows locating which direction you would start or finish.
Are the names & times listed on your website anywhere? I would like to see where I placed on Saturday.
I thought it was great. You folks did a great job. It was a good route. I would agree that 2 water stations would be nice. I also think a prize system for age groups would be a good idea. There was an older gentleman who placed in the top 5. Those ahead of him were much younger. He should have some sort of special recognition...like first place in the over 60 group or someething like that.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, and tell the folks on Crestfield Drive to plant more shade trees near the road!!! That is a long hot hill.
Thanks for all you do.
Had a great time, This was my second 5K. This time my wife and my 9 year old son run,he come in 59th. As Mary Ann said above there needs to be awards for kids. This would also push more kids to enter to promote healthy lifestyles.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great to have the results lists by age and sex.To get more involvment offer group or family discounts.I think with would push more groups and families to enter together.Wonderful run, can't wait until the next run.
Before the race began, you could feel the excitement building. It was a great event. I agree with the other comments about 2 water stations. I was ok--I took a water bottle with me--but others needed it along the way. It was my first 5K, and even though I wasn't in the best shape and had to walk almost all of it, I was proud to be a part of the event. Looking forward to another one in the fall (and improving on my time). Could we have a course with fewer hills please!? Thanks for all your hard work!
ReplyDeleteLANCASTER COUNTY WATER & SEWER DISTRICT HAD 7 PARTICIPANTS. OUR GROUP HAD A GREAT TIME! WE ALL HAD OUR OWN PERSONAL GOALS. WE WOULD LOVE TO DO IT AGAIN THIS FALL! WE ALL THOUGHT THAT LAST HILL WAS TOUGH. IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD LEVEL THAT LAST HILL OUT! HA! HA!
ReplyDeleteWE ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO PROMOTE GOOD HEALTH AT THE DISTRICT. THIS WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT WAY TO GET OUR EMPLOYEES GOAL ORIENTED AND INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY.
THANKS! MARGARET FLOW, FINANCE DIRECTOR
I agree with the poster above that it would been nice to see the ages and the gender. I think I came in 11th for the women but it is hard to tell.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about your comments since I am the Executive Director of the Lancaster Area Literacy Cooperative. Your input will help us better prepare for the next race. We are considering a fall event at Andrew Jackson State Park to coincide with a storytelling festival. Let me know what you think.
ReplyDeleteAs always, your presence and input are extremely important to us.

Kathy, I think having another 5k in the fall would be great! My son and I will run again and maybe this time my oldest son will run too! I vote yes! =0)
ReplyDeleteHey Kathy - if you do this again in the fall you can count on us to run/walk again - it was a blast - except for that thrid mile.... that was one heck of a hill! Great adventure for all of us, beautifully organized and - yes even the weather was perfect!
ReplyDeleteMaggie, Steve and Meg!
